The Fall of Chrissy Teigen
If you've been keeping up with celebrity news, you may know that Chrissy Teigen is in hot water for a past of cyber bullying. To date, Courtney Stodden, model, and Michael Costello, fashion designer, have come forward with visual proof of Chrissy’s mean girl past. In both cases, Chrissy urged that her targets ought to kill themselves. That's pretty harsh. As an astrologer, I'm always interested in the inner workings of planetary energies that underpin this kind of acute news. While some don't agree with looking at celebrity charts, I find that it is tremendously helpful in learning planetary archetypes, timing techniques, and the general effect that planetary movements can have on us mere mortals. So, in this take, I investigate the natal chart of Chrissy Teigen, and pinpoint some of the planetary energies that could be at play for her now.

But first some housekeeping. Whenever you are looking into the chart of a politician, or a musician, or any other kind of public figure, you're going to want to make sure that their birth data is accurate. There are a lot of websites out there that purport to have the accurate natal charts of certain celebrities, but some of them are less reputable than others. I suggest using Astro.com. There you can find the rating of a chart. Chrissy’s chart is rated A, meaning there is a strong likelihood of accuracy. (The best rating is AA!).
The first thing in Chrissy Teigen’s chart that is of note is, of course, or Scorpio ascendant. People born with a Scorpio ascendant are in some way seen or known for their intensity. Where that intensity goes depends on a myriad of factors. But one way to start delineating the effect of Scorpio energy is to look to the placement of Mars, which rules the sign of Scorpio. Chrissy Teigen has her Mars in the sign of Libra in her 12th house. To me, this is a set-up of secrecy. For one, it explains why Chrissy was able to get away with this type of behavior without it reaching the public. The 12H tends to rule spaces that are private or unseen. Second, Mars is a malefic force. So it is not surprising that Chrissy’s own maleficence was something that was shielded from our eyes. And because it is in what is called aversion to (or, cannot “see”) the ascendant, sometimes the way this malefic energy comes out can be extremely disproportional. There is also something morbidly resonant about urging someone to kill themselves, when you have the ruler of your ascendant, or your embodiment, in the 12H of self-undoing—especially when that ruler is Mars—a planet that enjoys violence, a planet that severs and harms. Mars in Chrissy’s chart is also sextile Uranus, revving up the excitement and speed with which Chrissy made her own cancellation grave—off the cuff remarks and inappropriate sarcasm. Uranus also adds a certain quirk and irreverence to Chrissy’s demeanor, which certainly inflames the desire to say or do things to get a rise out of others.
Chrissy is 35, meaning she is in a 12H year (everyone at 35 is!), kicking up all those Mars-related issues.
“As you know, a bunch of my old awful (awful, awful) tweets resurfaced. I’m truly ashamed of them. As I look at them and understand the hurt they caused, I have to stop and wonder: How could I have done that?”
That is a potent question to ask. When the ruler of your ascendant is in the 12H, having a sense of whiplash or delayed realization about the ways your actions have affected others is certainly par for the course. Mars is essentially, for Chrissy, operating in a blind spot.
Why now? Transit Mars in Leo is in her 10H, the most visible part of the sky. Her martial mean girl behavior and other cringe celebrity-obsessed behavior is being publicized. Mars is also squaring her natal Pluto, so let’s go there next.
Chrissy Teigen has Pluto in Scorpio in her 1H. One of the ways that Pluto in the 1H can manifest is someone desperate to be seen as important or consequential. This is a placement that comes with a lot of power, but the way one wields that power or approaches that power or homes that power, is completely individual. In the case of Michael Costello, Chrissy essentially delighted in being able to blacklist him within the industry. That means that she was able to pull some levers in the background using her influence to derail this person’s career. And that is all Pluto. In her chart Pluto is conjunct her south node, meaning that she is coming into this lifetime with some unresolved Pluto issues. In my practice of astrology, I assume planets conjunct the south node showed up maladaptively in prior lifetimes. That Christy appears to be working through this, realizing her mistakes, and apologizing, is certainly reminiscent of the growth one makes from their south node to their north node. But it is clear that she wielded that Plutonian power in less than desirable ways in the past. I also want to mention that Mars is the ruler of her Aries 6H. And so, using her energy or her power against individuals in her same industry, or in her same work environments, is extremely appropriate here. The square transit Mars is making to this natal Pluto placement sets Chrissy up for a battle of wills—where on one hand she is trying to regain her public persona in the face of extreme backlash for that public persona.
“In reality, I was insecure, immature and in a world where I thought I needed to impress strangers to be accepted. If there was a pop culture pile-on, I took to Twitter to try to gain attention and show off what I at the time believed was a crude, clever, harmless quip. I thought it made me cool and relatable if I poked fun at celebrities.”
Let’s talk about those quips. Chrissy has a retrograde Mercury in Sagittarius—double homicide! Not only is Mercury in detriment in Sagittarius, it’s retrogradation makes things even more tricky. Mercury here is classic foot-in-mouth syndrome, where the expansiveness, boundarylessness, and affable nature of Jupiter (which rules Sagittarius), can certainly get you in trouble. Chrissy explains in the quote above and the larger apology, that she was essentially joking around. Even more, Mercury is the ruler of her Virgo midheaven. The midheaven (MC) the highest point in one’s natal chart, usually conflated with the 10H. And while the thematic similarity is there, the MC can float between the 9H, 10H and 11H. Chrissy has her MC in the 11H. The 11H can capture communities at large that share like-minded goals or interests, and for a celebrity, this house represents other celebrities. The 11th also carries connotations of social media—where you can interface with a lot of people at once. Chrissy’s love for Twitter is indicated here, yet so is her ultimate downfall. Those Sagittarius Twitter fingers echoing across the 11H can be problematic—picking on peers, always trying to be seen as “edgy” or funny. You run the risk of being known for what you write (Virgo 11H), and without intention behind your words, Chrissy has become an example of our increasingly cringe public foibles—post something once, it stays on the Internet forever. Her Mercury has a loose opposition to and rules her Chiron in Gemini in the 8H—that she used words to mask a deep personal pain makes sense. Chiron in Gemini folks tend to have pain around communication, both as an internal complication and as an external coping mechanism. Word’s hurt—and Chrissy’s certainly did.
Chrissy’s sensitive Moon in Cancer forms a square by sign to her Mars in Libra. I have no doubt that girl is probably GOING THROUGH IT right now. The issue at play is that Mars in Libra and Moon in Cancer are working at cross-purposes. Cancer wants desperately to belong and is vulnerable to even the most transient emotions. But Mars in Libra is a cool, brute force of social savvy and intellect, desperate to assert in the 12H. The stabbing imagery and mentions of physical sensitivity to the pain one has caused that Chrissy mentions is Mars square Moon incarnate:
“Now, confronted with some of the things that I said, I cringe to my core. I’ll honestly get sharp, stabbing pains in my body, randomly remembering my asshole past, and I deserve it.”
The transiting NN is in Gemini, right on top of Chrissy’s primordial Chiron wound. The NN appears to be amplifying, or making ravenous, the legacy of Chrissy’s hot takes and the pain they have caused. The transiting SN is in Sagittarius conjunct her natal Sun and approaching her Mercury. This is a karmic sea change around the way Chrissy’s words and identity have been misappropriately used. The amplified Gemini energy also represents the medium through which Chrissy has reckoned with her past—sound bites, news articles, gossip rags, and blogging. (She published her self-written apology on the website Medium no less!). Transiting Saturn is also conjunct her natal Jupiter in Aquarius, severely restricting or even providing karmic receipts for Jupiter’s past behavior as ruler of her Mercury.
And lastly, Chrissy’s Moon has newly progressed into Scorpio, conjunct that natal Pluto and SN. This is uncomfortable and corresponds to a chapter of Chrissy’s life where she is dealing with the emotional wreckage (Moon conjunct Pluto) of all her exposed skeletons. Moon in Scorpio periods are great for deep soul-searching, but that searching is likely always prompted by confrontation or crisis.
Will she bounce back? Maybe. The ruler of Chrissy’s Sun and Mercury, Jupiter, has newly entered Pisces where it can say YES to things again. This can shield her a bit or insulate the impact on her finances and sponsorships as a result of this fallout (Chrissy’s Sun and Mercury are in her 2H of personal resources). But Jupiter is slowing and will retrograde back into Saturn-ruled Aquarius. She may fall back into a quieter version of herself for now, focused on home and family. When she turns 36 in November, she will enter a 1H year, a period of life that is more face-forward. It’ll activate all her 1H Scorpio placements, and indicate, as Scorpio always does, some profound transformations regarding her identity. Jupiter will be in Pisces again on December 29th, making 2022 a year where Chrissy is more visible. But until then, the vibe is damage control.
Jupiter Conjunct Pluto Through the Houses
This configuration is all about how you define personal success. Jupiter is where we expand, where we go to develop ourselves along the lines of faith, spirituality, philosophy and other facets of the high mind. Jupiter aligns us with our personal brand of luck and opportunity, and the mindsets that make it possible. Jupiter shows talents that manifest with ease. Pluto is the principle of power, of urge, of obsession. It is the energy of digging in, unraveling, of going to the edge, looking over it, and laughing. After all is said and done, the Plutonian plunge acquaints us with personal power. Not in the brute and obvious way, not like Mars. This is a silent and soulful power.

When Jupiter and Pluto conjoin, we get breadth and depth. Sometimes in devastating ways. Like the spread of COVID-19 and the Spanish Flu (Pluto representing virus and germs—microscopic death. Jupiter representing spread, travel, and proportion). But in our charts, Jupiter conjunct Pluto can tell a personal story as well. Pluto has been grinding away in Capricorn and the house that contains Capricorn for a long while. Its changes are subtle and far reaching. But the introduction of Jupiter, known as a trans-personal planet, may have made aware to you some of underlying motivations you have for achievement. The drive for power is strong. Jupiter may have made you aware of the power you lack, want, have, etc.— and those realizations can shape your actions and tinker your compass moving forward. It all goes back to that definition of personal success. For some, it is money, power, and fame—an obsession with worldly status that is apropos for Capricorn. Any way to get a leg up, even if it breaks others’ legs. For others, productive avenues of power—like wanting for due recognition, respect, and betterment—can take hold. Power becoming empowered. A success that maybe only you see or know. Perhaps a combination of all the above.
Jupiter came to conjunct Pluto two times this year already and will make a third conjunction tomorrow. April 5th, June 30th, November 12th. These days coincide with a beginning, middle, and end to the Jupiter-Pluto narrative. Of course, not in any tidy way. But those three dates are helpful ballparks for events that show the fingerprint of Jupiter and Pluto’s energy for you. Below are brief descriptors/themes regarding the transformation and opportunities that may have befallen you or will.
Aside from knowing which house these conjunctions are in for you, it is also helpful to keep in mind which houses Jupiter rules for you to further contextualize internal or external events. Jupiter rules Sagittarius and Pisces.
1st house: These conjunctions brought to the forefront your very identity in the world, how your personality, affect, and interactions could use more punch, power, and flair. Scaffoldings that forced you to play small have crumbled, and it may not have felt great. You have experienced loss, death, and hardship in literal and figurative ways. You have been reborn to yourself this year, in ways that empower you to play big and take up space. To rise to the occasion of life. Your physical body, with all its pains and warts, perceived or real, have forced you to realize you are more than flesh and bone. You are the energy that animates it.
2nd house: These conjunctions had you reckon with your value systems. In the most literal way, income, material resources, the balancing of assets versus liabilities became throughways for financial power and freedom. When your security is ensured, life opens up, opportunities can be capitalized off of, and monetized. Your material life can empower you to take on life in a safe way. The imbalance of such things, the mismanagement of them, causes disempowerment. Scarcity mindset. The ravenous need to keep up with the Joneses. So, too, have intangible forms of value crept to the surface this year. Where you give too much, take too much. Where you are depleted or substantiated. You have been drained and devalued in devastating ways, with the lesson being intentional procurement of the things that truly fill you up. And the pruning of things that do not.
3rd house: These conjunctions worked hard on your mindsets, your communication, your comings and goings in the community, and the actors you share that stage with. Opportunities to share your ideas and take full advantage of your mental abilities seemed to be been co-present news, information, and perceptions that were disturbing and uncomfortable. It is only in fully cultivating every corner of your mind, even the dark and dusted places, the scary places, that you come into profound understanding of yourself and your voice. Saying the things that need to be said, adhering to ruthless honesty, and exploring complexities will galvanize life in a direction that speaks your truth to power.
4th house: These conjunctions felt like the Earth was reorganizing itself beneath your feet. The places where you root yourself—in homes, in traditions, in family—were subject to quakes and quivers. This is the midnight house, the most private, the seat of our soul. You have been reset. Psychological and soul stirrings seemed to have accompanied the changing of the guards in your life. You moved and were moved. Familial tapestries perhaps felt outgrown or were grown upon. Places and people of comfort became uncomfortable. In sorting through the structures that broke down, and also the ones left upstanding in the wreckage, you can piece together the foundations worthy of your continued growth. And can trust they can hold the weight.
5th house: These conjunctions played on your creative contributions, and how they serve your character. We create in all types of ways: through art, through children, through romance, through play. Anywhere where we create evidence of our life. Though, do these pleasures consume you or emancipate you? There have been opportunities to exercise your imagination and the personal power it gives you. In your quest to project creative confidence and authority in your offerings, resistance from others or from an outgrown need to shrink have compelled you forward. Keep in mind the difference between power and empower—is what you do uplifting or is your motive to exert importance? Your capabilities are profound and evergreen when you let them flow and let them go.
6th house: These conjunctions have retooled your service, routines and health. The need for a job well done, to perform duty and responsibility in ways that compel recognition may have eaten you up, exhausted you. To be a background player in the results you help to create may have moved you into spaces where your ethic, problem-solving and service are valued and rewarded, or into mindsets that produce movement in that direction. Offers and opportunities for upward mobility (relatively) have presented themselves, yet so has the excruciating desire to find work that…works for you. The systems you have in place that feed your body have been magnified and tested—for better or worse. A sound body, an enriching lifestyle, and a set of habits that uplift the upward movement are sources of meaning. And in turn, it creates a meaningful life.
7th house: These conjunctions have brought a surplus of movement and opportunities in your one on one relationships. Yet, the people we let in close have the power to significantly alter us, move us into pain, move us into rapture, and move us into objective understanding of ourselves, our roles. This is hard and visceral work. You desire to be on good terms with all your counterparts, romantic, platonic and professional. But you can keep bumping up against what feels like shadow work, power plays, and a reverberating examination of true motive. After all is said and done, these foils to your main character show you more about yourself, move you into alignment with the dynamic and complex offerings of others, and ultimately, harness compromise and understanding as a life tool. This peace is your power. As is the ability to stand alone where company disappoints and dissolves.
8th house: These conjunctions have turned your mind inward with a close examination of your human condition, and the human condition in general. There is a profound gift in being able to face your fears, traumas and pain, in forcing sunlight into your broken places. Flaws build character build a richly lived life. Wabi Sabi. Your dealings with others have felt karmic and moving on a soul level, most of the lessons touching a sensitive nerve you never knew was exposed. You have been given opportunities to share of yourself, to reckon with how you are indebted, to look at how you manage assets and forces that are behemoth. Resources have flowed. This energy has introduced to you your own strength and weaknesses. To be softened, to surrender, to give up, to cry out for help—these are all fast tracks to a spiritual understanding life. Your power is in the expansion of consciousness.
9th house: These conjunctions have erected plot twists into your hero’s journey. Your faith in life is outsized yet seems to constantly bump up against forces that challenge it and seek to demolish it. And perhaps demolition has occurred, forcing you to rebuild with freshened perspective, with more grit and experience. Your appetite for adventure, for experience, for education, for sampling all that life has to offer has increased. Your higher mind is the gateway for true power. In confronting the big Why’s of life, you have been met by doubt, loss, and setbacks—but so, too, have those things clarified your answer. A high concept, a quest for information that is inherently subjective and spiritual moves you into a more holistic interpretation of the story unfolding for you. You’re writing the interpretation as the narrative unfolds.
10th house: These conjunctions for you have perhaps been the most deeply felt and transformative. Power playing out in a status-defining house. Your prominence and star turn on the world stage has been met with applause, with increased visibility, and with a hunger to get more, do more, and be more. Confidence is a natural byproduct of this transit, but ambition is a double-edged sword. Increased responsibility is a signpost of success, but mismanagement of that power can be devastating. Even the small ways you have sought to exert influence or be in control could be damaging to the humanity you carry. You don’t always have to be achieving, setting goals, or winning to be important. More so than any other house, how you determine your personal success weighs heavily. Will it ring hollow but win trophies? Or can it allow for meaning, rest, and reflection as well?
11th house: These conjunctions have expanded upon your desire to stand out from the groups you belong to and use them to further a goal. Because of that, your social networks may have dwindled dramatically, or else your perception of the players that actually matter has sharpened. The people you place around you during this time have real potential to move you forward, and to do that, you may have faced the loss of longstanding friendships and other social fixtures that no longer serve. Your specific drive to move, shape, and change humanity using your gifts has come into focus, as have the unique, perplex and saddening societal structures to battle along the way. You empower yourself through the people you choose to share this dream with. They must be mission critical.
12th house: These conjunctions have sensitized you, made you tender, made you receptive to your disowned needs, and the needs of others around you. The compassion and empathy this house offers are usually through a fraternity of pain and suffering. You feel kinship with those who have felt in similarly hard ways, or else have grown into a personal fraternity of self by allowing your pain to have a seat at the table. The way you relate with and understand others is profound though probably informed by your own losses. Events that force your self-sabotaging and victimized ways to the surface have been plentiful, yet a spiritual understanding and compassion for these drives often lurked and offered transcendence. Your power is in forgetting yourself and in separating from a bruised ego by diving into subconscious and soupy states. Letting the Universe move you instead of having to control everything yourself. The information may feel vague but holds value. Alone time, literally or not, sets the stage for rebirth, like how a cold and barren winter always foretells of a brighter spring.
NEW CYCLE ALERT: SOUTH NODE SAGITTARIUS, NORTH NODE GEMINI, and what it means FOR YOU
Extra extra, read all about it!
That’s the energy of Gemini NN to me haha.
On a societal level...
SN in Sagittarius: end of my way or highway soap-boxing, end of dogmatic thinking being accepted as Truth, the illusion of fake news lifting, losses to the way we travel globally, less my way or the high way
NN in Gemini: fact over philosophy and theorizing, able to hold many ideas at once, expanding on the ability to change your mind, common sense, letting new information in

In general, SN Sag is the archetype of a well-traveled and knowledgeable sage, in whatever field, seeking to share what they know. This archetype appears to know it all, about everything, and will make sure you know that. The plus side is what this placement does indeed have a lot to share. The downside is that they don’t listen to other people, factor in the details, and have a hard time separating their ego from their smarts. Marco Polos.
NN Gemini is seeking to be that better listener, to siphon through all the relevant details and facts, to be comfortable learning from others. This placement is community oriented and less about traveling far and wide. Time to be in the present moment, here and now, what matters this second.
On a personal level...
It depends a lot on what houses Sag and Gemini are for you. And if there are planets there.
My basic approach: SN DRAIN, NN GAIN.
So wherever the NN is where we can experience gains, and wherever the SN is where we can experience drains.
Here are some ideas to get you thinking.
ARIES ASC: gains in the third house, drains in the ninth. a period of community oriented endeavors, of letting new ideas permeate your daily life. less lusting after faraway places and lofty mindsets, but letting the here and now spark wonder
TAURUS ASC: gains in the second, drains in the eighth. personal income from your own personal endeavors. make right with what you owe people and get your head around your debt. retooling your beliefs around money and possession.
GEMINI ASC: gains in the first house, drains in the seventh. a period of coming into your own without seeing other people as a necessity in that journey. speaking up for yourself, face forward now, retooling which relationships are needed and which you can jettison
CANCER ASC: gains in the twelfth, drains in the sixth. the daily habits or jobs that once sustained you are becoming beige boring or broken. looking towards the metaphysical to bring back a sense of magic and wonder, and letting that seep into your routines
LEO ASC: gains in the eleventh, drains in the fifth. less about what personally makes you feel good and more about what you can bring to the community to make them feel good. creation needs an audience, be it a piece of work, art, a child or yourself. you may make lifelong friends and associates, time to find your tribe. mingle
VIRGO ASC: gains in the tenth, drains in the fourth. volume is turned up on your place on the world stage. opportunities to bolster your sense of purpose will be abound. you may have to say goodbye to staying small or staying hidden, and bloom past what your family expects of you. an end of the comfort zone.
LIBRA ASC: gains in the ninth, drains in the third. a period of travel, whether journeys of the mind or journeys in real life. commit knowing all there is to know and seeing all there is to see and practicing all there is to practice. this will expand your horizons. true wisdom requires time and a nimble mind. spiritual passages await
SCORPIO ASC: gains in the eighth house, drains in the second. your sense of personal insecurity will be made up for by the graciousness of others. a period of true sharing, investment, and resourceful intimacy. the ways that you waste money or valuables (your time and energy and patience too) will become apparent, and asking for help from others is your best bet
SAG ASC: gains in the seventh house, drains in the first. a period of relationships that can help you reevaluate who you are and where you’re going. not the loss of self sufficiency per se, but the ability to let others co-pilot this stretch
CAP ASC: gains in the sixth, drains in the twelfth. time to be more real world oriented. the isolation that serves you, the spiritual practices that unnerve you, these are to keep and help you become better in life, on the job, and for others. all the other psychic chatter, alienation, trauma, sabotage that does not bolster you must go. break down to build up, not to stay broken. this opens up new ways to be of service, to remain flexible in your duties, and to remain childlike and light as you approach each day
AQUA ASC: gains in the fifth, drains in the eleventh. social exhaust. extraneous friends. arsenals of acquaintances. groups and beliefs you have grown out of. time to spring clean your social networks. a true sense of belonging comes from authenticity of self, and all else that spring from that. opportunities for pleasure, joy, art, creation, romance and love remind you who you are and who is worth keeping around. your own best friend.
PISCES ASC: gains in the fourth, drains in the tenth. a place for solid roots, a home, a family. these are all themes that are of concern. it is less important that you be respected by the world, by your colleagues, than it is that you have a place to relax and retreat, to feel safe and secure, to delight in the smaller successes of comfort, a family dinner, a mortgage in your name, and a place to lay your head. you step down from an authority figure, and are content to just feel content. your mom, your dad, your home.
NOTE that the drain/gain paradigm isn’t black and white. There won’t be complete losses in one area so don’t expect that. Rather, a clearing up, drain, allows for the gains to have space to settle in. For example, Gemini rising draining of relationships that don’t serve gives Gemini rising the space to come into their own. Doesn’t mean all relationships are doomed.
The SN and NN work in tangent. No need to completely ignore or abhor or fear one in service of the other. The SN is the launching pad. The NN is where we go once launched.
Also remember that the Sag/Gem axis is one that is inherently cerebral in nature. It deals a lot with the mind. So Gemini information gather versus Sag "I know it all" is what is fundamentally at play here. At the end of this period, you will KNOW more about what there is for you to learn i.e. these changes could, for some, play out entirely in your brain.
Megan Thee Stallion: The Case for a Sagittarius Rising
There is no birth time for Megan. These are my musings on why she may be a Sagittarius Rising with Jupiter in the 1st house.
There is no birth time for Megan. These are my musings on why she may be a Sagittarius Rising with Jupiter in the 1st house.
(Megan Thee Stallion is a newly famous hip hop artist, for those definite few who are furrowing their brows).
Let’s get the easiest and most coincidental parts out of the way. Sagittarius rules the thighs, buttocks and hips, and with Jupiter as an expansive energy, we get Megan’s impressively contoured and voluptuous frame as well as her endless stamina while dancing. Many have remarked jokingly about Megan’s strong knees, which could also be owed to the rays of her Venus in Capricorn, casting benefic and beautifying energy over bone structure, both visually and physiologically. Venus would be placed in her 2nd house, which can indicate how one earns income. For Megan, that income is due, in part, to her beauty. Megan stands tall at 5’10, her shapely legs the perfect confluence of fleshly Sagittarius and elegant Capricorn. She earned the nickname stallion while in school because of her beauty and height. So here we have a wonderful cosmic coincidence. Sagittarius is the centaur, a half human, half horse creature. And so it is with Megan, metaphorically anyway. Megan also has some trademarks of a Sagittarius Rising, like gorgeous manes of ever-changing hair (think of a horse mane, think of mutability, and Oprah--Leo isn't the only ASC that grants luscious locks) an elongated face, and a toothy smile (think AOC and Kim Kardashian).
A Sagittarius Rising also explains her massive rise to fame over the last year: she was having her Jupiter Return. In the first house, this grants potential expansion to your identity in the world. She had already been working on music and her Jupiter Return exploded it, granting fame and success. A similar thing happened to Cardi B when she had her Jupiter Return in Libra. Megan’s Jupiter squares her Saturn in Pisces, an aspect of giving scope and vision to the hard work you do on a daily basis. When transit Jupiter set off this natal square, it expanded on the promise of this configuration, and gifted Megan with the rewards of discipline.
Megan is highly Saturnian, by the way, with 5 plants in Saturn-ruled signs including her Aquarius Sun and RX Mercury. It explains her incredible work ethic and focus on things that actually matter: she still regularly attends college classes while on tour, and encourages her fans to be environmentally friendly (her inaugural beach clean-up kicked off in June). She is vocal about remediating and reversing climate change through small, everyday actions, and encourages her fans to be “eco-friendly hotties”. Big Aquarius Energy. A Sagittarius Rising places Aquarius in her 3rd house. Organizing a community clean up at the Santa Monica pier is a fitting 3rd house activity and so is her continual pride in her hometown of Houston (“I’m going to always have a home in Houston, I’m going to always come back”). Her lyrical acumen and ability to take online and in-person college courses while balancing fame and travel is also the domain of the 3rd: communication, education, and short-distance travel. Megan has a Leo Moon and Mars, and a Sagittarius Rising places these planets in her 9th house, deepening the importance of education for her. Megan remarked on Access Hollywood that she has “always” wanted a bachelor’s degree, and she was not going to let music get in the way of her education. That’s the fixed determination of Leo and Aquarius!
A Sagittarius Rising places Saturn in her 4th house in Pisces. She was inspired to become a rapper because her mother was one as well, often taking Megan to recording sessions with her instead of paying for daycare or a babysitter. Her mother encouraged her to stay in school and emphasized the importance of education so she’d have something to fall back on. This is a beautiful illustration of Saturn energy emanating from the house of home, upbringing, and the parents. With Pisces, Megan was creatively inspired by her mother. But with Saturn, there was structure, practicality, and delay—Megan’s mother only allowed her to pursue music after turning 21. And after she did, her mother became her manager. Megan entered the studio “under the tutelage” of her mom. Big Saturn Energy.
On March 22nd of this year, Megan’s mother passed away at the age of 48. She succumbed to a cancerous brain tumor. At the time of her passing, Neptune was conjunct Megan’s Saturn, and transit Mars was closing in on an opposition to Megan’s Pluto, a square to her Moon and a square to her Mars. The South Node was also exactly conjunct her natal Neptune. This paints a compelling picture of losing the sole source of your inspiration and the dissolving of a structure you once knew. Megan’s mother was a Taurus, placing her Sun in Megan’s 6th house and filling the empty leg of Megan’s T-square. Megan cites her mother’s illness as why she is pursuing health administration, a fitting career for a 6th house overlay. As a full moon baby, Megan was destined for stardom of some sort, but always at the expense of her inner life. When the Sun opposes the Moon, the will and pursuits of the ego come at the expense of your emotional security, and of that security, the mother factors in heavily. That Megan lost her mom as her career was taking off is one tragic rendering of this configuration. It is also profound to note that Megan’s mother died under a full moon as well. A cosmic culmination of a promise fulfilled.
Megan dreams of using her education to open an elderly care facility in her hometown of Houston. With Virgo as her 10th house co-present Chiron (wounding), it is equally fitting that she wishes to be of service to others, stemming in some way from her own pain (the death of her mom, and watching her grandmother take care of her ailing great-grandmother). Megan has a NN in Scorpio, which would be placed in the 12th house, ruling health facilities, care-taking, and endings/death. She stated that while music will probably never enable her to go to medical school as she had planned, that she still wants to “run [a] hospital. I don’t want to do the dirty work, but I definitely want to put it there for people to come and help others.” Here is yet another beautiful illustration of Megan’s humanitarian pursuits, in combination with her dutiful Virgo 10th house, and a fearless Scorpio oriented path. Musically, she also develops her NN in Scorpio. She is extremely unapologetic about her sexuality and sexual satisfaction.
Lastly and most importantly, Megan inspires confidence in women. That is the beauty of Jupiter’s hope and optimism. You’ll recognize it, too, in Lizzo, who has Jupiter conjunct her Sun. And Jonathan Van Ness, who also has Jupiter conjunct his Sun. Jupiterian people give us confidence, the warm and fuzzies, and the affirmation that who we are is fucking enough. The brainchild of the Hot Girl Summer remarked that being a Hot Girl is all about “being carefree and confident, the life of the party, and unapologetically” yourself. Now those are things a rising Jupiter in Sagittarius can get behind!
Meg's cool. Hope you enjoyed
